We did it!!! We kited all the way from Islamorada to Key West...and it was great! Man, it felt like being a kid again...wondering what was around the next island and discovering all the nice little wave spots that break on a strong SE wind. We are definitely going to do that again.
We also wanted to do some research for our upcoming event, the 2008 Keys Kite Challenge. We learned what we already knew. Some of the most notable concerns are: every rider must be associated with a chase boat, conditions need to be good, and you must have some determination! Even though nobody changed kites the whole way...they should/could have.
And even though kiters have kited all over the Keys for years now...it was fun to do it the whole way...all at once.
